Bali.... Yes it's my hometown. I want to tell you about this amazing store. As you've seen, if you had followed my socmed, I've been sharing photos of Utama Spice products. This is the closure to know more about them. Months ago, I was invited to their store, met the owners and tried some products. Now, I'd like to share with you.
Some of you may be haven't heard about this brand, this is a Balinese brand and as you know many local products for spa are made in Bali. I've made a review about their lipbalm and short introduction of this brand, you can check the post here.
Here is the brand overview. For more details, you can check their web www.utamaspicebali.com. What I like from them is that they make the products from the raw ingredients to make sure that there's nothing they don't want inside of it. They don't want any dangerous chemical ingredients and make sure that it's 100% natural. So it is really a safe and natural product.
Here is their store in Sanur. This is their branch, the main store and factory is located in Ubud. The target of the customers are mainly from Japan because Japanese people like something unique and natural. I can smell the spice when first time entering this store, feels like at spa. They have many products at store and so many choices of scent. I love the natural concept, using plank wood. Yay to Go Green, save the earth!
On the right side of the store, from the left, they have everything mist and in spray form, and on the right are bath salt, body scrubs and face scrubs.
They have the bug spray and body mist here. Bug spray?? Yes.. It is their best selling product and their first product. Before they had store like this, it's only a home industry and from mouth to mouth, but they got famous because of this and many 5 stars hotel also got this. I ended up bought this for myself because of this rainy season the mosquitos are worse and this helps a lot. It is natural, non sticky and feels refreshing when using. The body mist also hydrating and refreshing with natural spices scent.
The scrub and mask is unique because it isn't like usual scrub or mask that you can just use it right away or in paste form. This one is in powder form, so we have to mix it with water to create paste before applying. Wait for my review for them! They also have unique variants that I've never heard before like Boreh, Temu2, all name is in Indonesian for this one because it is traditional one and no English for that but they put every explanation in details under the products.
On the left side there are soaps (liquid and bar), hair products (oil and shampoo), and incense. On the small table there is herb tea and on the corner is a sink to try the products.
The soap is also available in bars so you can buy in grams, go cut it yourself. Or you can just buy the one that already in brown paper packaging. But this one makes me wanna play with it.
This is also their first product, incense (dupa). Balinese people use incense a lot for praying but nowadays people also use it for aroma therapy especially spas. The begone bug can give you a bug free time and it's not dangerous for your health at all. If we come to the store, we can buy 1 pc incense, not have to take a whole box.
I love the 'Try Me' corner. I can try everything I want, oil, mask, soap, etc in this section. Love the natural stone sink.
In the middle, there are body lotion and butter section. The texture is kinda unique and different than usual lotion and butter, this is light and has oil in it but kind of natural oil that absorbed quickly into the skin and give benefits. They usually use virgin coconut oil in every of their products, so not the palm oil that is getting worse nowadays. The cocoa butter is special, it's more like a balm type, reminds me of Egyptian magic cream, it helps calming skin rash and burn.
Lipbalms! I love lipbalm. I have 6 lip balms and I use it every night to maintain soft lips. Their lipbalms are cheap (around $1) and works really nice. It keeps my lips moist until the next day I wake up. The cocoa lipbalm is the most moisturizing. The tangerine lip balm is unique because the color is green, they make it from orange leaves.
For natural products, natural oil is a must. They have VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) from small to big size. This is really good for face and body, just by simply mix it with your daily products, it can add more natural glow.
This one is oil for body, usually used for massage at spa. This is their new packaging. They relabel their products into more attractive packaging and there is an illustration on the bottle, it will help people a lot to understand what's inside of that. They work together with Balinese artist to do the design. I love the look on the new one.
Now it's time to make my own lipbalm. Excited!
They have this section for making your own lipbalm. How cute is that. So they have this recipe, all that needed are base and 4 drops of essential oil (2 drops x 2 kinds of oil) and voila your lipbalm is made. They also have favourite recipe if you want to make it rather than confused in so many choices. They offered me to make 2 lipbalms.
First, we need a clean jar. They provide a glass jar with Utama Spice logo embossed. You can refill it with cheaper price. One of their go green concept.
There are 3 kinds of base: mint, orange leaves, and cinnamon. I chose mint and cinnamon, the smell of the orange leaves is kinda unique, reminds me of Thailand peanuts. It has the strongest scent among the others.
Soooo many essential oil to choose. I'm amazed on how many traditional herbs can be used for beauty purpose and I don't even know about it. I just know some of the names. Some of them we've known since we were children, the oil that used for minyak kayu putih, minyak telon, dll. It's Indonesian traditional recipe. Proud of it.
This is the stove to cook the base for the lip balm. Cooking time!
Cook it in the pan until they melted away and ready to be mixed.
Put the essential oil you want, 2 drops of each 2 essential oil. I chose tangerine, lime and some others.
Pour the melting base into the jar.
Stir it with glass spoon to mix the formula.
Wait for 15 minutes and it's already done! My cooking ^_^. It is a bit hard in texture, smells herbal and 100% natural for sure. You can use it for other parts beside lips to smoothen dry area too.
They gave me a goodie bag full of Utama Spice products. I will review them soon. You have seen some of the pic I posted on my instagram and facebook. Keep posted!
