Hair Update! Balayage at The Shampoo Lounge Seminyak Bali

Hi! You may have seen already on my instagram and facebook that I changed my hair color. Some of you were even wow-ed because this is not my usual color to go but I think it's time to come out of my comfort zone.

I did recolor my hair last month at The Shampoo Lounge (TSL). The kind owner, Mrs. Shierley recommended to me to have Balayage because it's very IN right now and it's TSL's best selling service for hair color. They're famous for it, check out their instagram.

TSL is located at Seminyak, Kuta which is a busy place for tourist. I've known this place for a while because I've been passing by this place for so many times. You can easily find this place because of it's unique location, right at the intersection between Jl. Raya Taman and Jl. Raya Basangkasa. At first, you'll think that TSL is a two stories salon, but there's a barber, under the same owner as TSL, called Bali Barber on the second floor. That's why this is the perfect destination for couple or even family.

The interior is so chic with its black, white and yellow theme. This place is almost busy all the time so booking is recommended before coming in. Not only salon, if you walk through the alley to the back side, there's a spa where you can have facial, reflexology, massage and mani pedi. You can have multi treatment here too, while having creambath or hair spa, the other spa therapist can do your manicure and pedicure at a time. Super time saving!


What's Balayage?

It's maybe your first time knowing this word. Most people only know about highlight, ombre but never heard of Balayage.

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. It allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair colour – similar to what nature gives us as children – with softer, less noticeable regrowth lines. The principal idea being less is more when creating soft, natural looks.

This was my hair before Balayage. I did the color using Mise En Scene Hello Bubble last April. Can't wait for the new one!


GETTIN' ON THE LONGGGGG PROCESS
Some parts of my hair was getting bleached to reach the wanted color. This was my first experience getting bleached, I was a bit afraid that it'd damaged my hair but it's not as bad as I think. This whole process took a longggg time (about 2 hours or more).

Here it is! Welcome my new hair. A bit surprised because it's so blonde, brighter than I thought, but I'm getting used to it and many of my friends complement the color. What I love is that it doesn't damage my hair, a bit dryer than usual yes but my hair's still smooth and soft. I do use conditioner everytime I shampoo and use hair mask regularly. 


A MONTH AFTER BALAYAGE
I love the color even more! It blends beautifully and creates awesome gradation. It's not as blonde (yellow) as before, for sure, it turns into beautiful caramel color. I think I know why, the stylist told me not to wash my hair very often but Bali is super hot and I don't use AC 24/7 so yeah, I wash my hair once per two days. Whatever it is, I do love it now! 

Beside their hair color, they're also famous for hair extensions and acrylic nails. This September they even have promotion, discount for people who tag them on instagram after having hair extensions. If you're near Jimbaran or Nusa Dua area, you don't have to come down to Seminyak to do your hair. TSL & Bali Barber has one more branch at Nusa Dua inside BTDC area, it combines both salon & barber services in one place.
